Solar White Light Activity – 10 August 2010

Seeing was average today. Struggling in between the clouds.
Sun seems to become really active. With AR 11092 just dissapearing over the Western limb and a new one already emerging on the Eastern limb taking it’s place.

So we got 4 active regions for today as well.

Sunspots AR 11093, AR 11095 and AR 11096:
AR 11093
AR 11095
AR 11096

and a new active area on the North Eastern limb:

Solar White Light Activity – 08 August 2010

The large sunspot AR 11092 is slowly moving away on the western limb of the sun. While sunspot AR 11093 is moving more towards the center facing the earth.
South of sunspot AR 11093, is the small sunspot AR 11095.

Sunspots AR 11093 and AR 11095:

and sunspot AR 11092 slowly moving away on the western limb:

Solar White Light Activity – 04 August 2010

Back from holiday! And the sun is bursting of activity this week!

The large sunspot AR 11092 is facing the earth and has produced a large CME earlier this week, from wich a first wave hitted the earth’s magnetic field yesterday afternoon and another wave about to hit either today or tomorrow.

From the sun’s eastern limb 2 new active areas are emerging.

Solar White Light Activity – 14 July 2010

Region AR 11087 seems to be slowly decaying now. But still gives a magnificent sight!

Seeing was actually quite good today. Not too unstable.

Tried a little experiment today, by adding the Moon filter I got and stack it together with my usual 2 filters I use with Solar imaging.
This allowed me to boost the gain significantly and the end result isn’t lying! I am quite pleased.

My very first Jupiter – 11 July 2010

Well, I have been busy trying to reprocess my AVI tonight.
Trying to squeeze out as much detail as I could.

The conditions were absolutely horrible last sunday. Had to wait till after 2AM in the morning for Jupiter to rise from behind the trees south of our appartment. And then the sun already started rising from the east.

If that’s not enough, our balcony is still not finished, so I was doing it from the livingroom through our southern window. I know I know. Bad bad bad. But I wanted to give it a try!

As Jupiter was so bright, I had to set exposure to 1-2ms and gain down to max. 25%. Wich didn’t exactly help either. Creating vertical lines.

All in all it was quite a tedious excersise for a first time!
So I think I will wait another month for Jupiter to rise a little earlier and the nights to become darker again.

Solar White Light Activity – 12 July 2010

Region AR 11087 has moved a bit further to the west on the North Eastern limb.
The new sunspot AR 11088 is still nothing more than a single small spot and not really worthwhile imaging (yet).

Seeing was moderate.

Solar White Light Activity – 10 July 2010

The new region of high magnetic activity that appeared yesterday on the North-Eastern limb is now designated as AR 11087.
It has become more active now and gives some exiting views in white light.

Seeing was very unstable.

Solar White Light Activity – 09 July 2010

Both AR 11084 and AR 11086 are no longer visible.
But a region of high magnetic activity has appeared on the North-Eastern limb. Wich are the remains of AR 11082.

Seeing was very unstable.

Solar White Light Activity – 06 July 2010

The new sunspot group on the north-western limb (AR 11086) is still there.
Sunspot AR 11084 is still visible at the south-western limb.

Seeing was very unstable.

Solar White Light Activity – 05 July 2010

Posting in a new, better format as of today! (will slowly work my way back and convert some of my older captures to this new format as well)

A new sunspot group popped up today on the north-western limb (AR 11086).
Sunspot AR 11084 is still visible at the south-western limb.

Seeing was very unstable. So it was a pain to focus (as usual) and capture those precious sharp frames.
